For over a decade, I’ve been with my current company, working on the same project. Before that, I spent ten years running my own business, an independent DVD rental store. I’ve always been someone who digs in, grows with an organization, and stays as long as there are opportunities for growth. Unfortunately, streaming technology accelerated faster than I anticipated, shortening the life of my business. That experience taught me the importance of adaptability and the need to anticipate change.
At my current role with HCL, I serve as Deputy Manager Operations. While I’ve appreciated the relationships I’ve built over the years, the siloed nature of our project and recent leadership changes have shifted responsibilities away from me. Without opportunities for growth, skill development, or engaging work, I realized earlier this year that it was time to move on.
The decision wasn’t easy, but it became clear I needed to prepare myself for new opportunities. I began by strengthening my credentials, earning both my PMP and PSM I certifications in the first half of the year. Armed with decades of experience and fresh certifications, I started my job search in earnest in November. I’ve applied to nearly 100 roles over the course of 2024, met with recruiters, connected with professionals on LinkedIn, and continuously refined my resume.
Yet despite these efforts, I’ve only landed a few interviews so far. This led me to create this personal website to highlight my adaptability, collaboration skills, and leadership capabilities. My goal is to stand out in a competitive market and connect with organizations where I can make a meaningful impact.
As I continue my search into 2025, I remain optimistic. I’m fortunate to have a job while I look and grateful for the lessons learned along the way. To everyone seeking new opportunities, I wish you the best of luck in the new year.
If you come across project, program, or operations management roles where you think I’d be a fit, feel free to share my website or connect me with hiring managers. Here’s to a new year of growth, opportunity, and fresh starts!
