My Professional Commitment

I approach every role with genuine interest, a commitment to growth, and a proven history of long-term dedication. My career is a testament to adaptability and passion for making meaningful contributions. Far from being “overqualified,” I seek roles where my experience aligns with a company’s vision, allowing me to create value, mentor others, and continue learning.

I thrive on challenges, as demonstrated by personal milestones like earning my PMP and PSM certifications, applying for MBA programs, and completing endurance races. These achievements reflect my commitment to lifelong learning, adaptability, and resilience. My entrepreneurial background has sharpened my ability to innovate, adapt, and embrace diverse perspectives. I value collaboration and actively seek out environments where fresh ideas and challenges push me to grow.

Fast-paced environments are where I excel. At Google, I successfully navigated constant change, led initiatives in emerging fields like machine learning, and adapted to new tools and processes seamlessly. My leadership roles outside Google, including as Vice President of Programs for PMI Pittsburgh, further underscore my ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results under pressure.

I’ve consistently mastered new technologies and systems throughout my career, from SaaS solutions to generative AI. For me, learning is an opportunity, and my track record shows I approach it with curiosity and discipline.

I bring stability, innovation, and dedication to any team, thriving in environments that challenge me to contribute meaningfully and grow.

Dean in Their Words

Colleagues

Working for Dean on the taxonomy team was one of the best work environments I have experienced professionally. Dean’s ability to cultivate a positive team environment with open communication significantly contributed to a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. He consistently provided constructive feedback and earnest praise when due while encouraging and listening to feedback and questions from his team. Dean’s leadership skills inspire the team to work hard and be proud of their contributions.

Dean is able to quickly recognize individuals’ strengths and progress areas to promote their professional development. He encourages members of his team to support each other and highlights our strengths. Dean ensures that each team member is well-informed about their individual and team performance by sharing clear deliverables, providing metrics dashboards, and reviewing project progress during our weekly meetings. In these meetings, Dean provides a safe space for each team member to share any questions or concerns.

Dean’s commitment to his work and team is evident each day. I highly recommend Dean for any company or role, and I’m confident that he will exceed expectations.”

“Dean Brandt has been instrumental in setting up complex organizational processes across teams, involving data curation and evaluation. These processes are always immaculately documented allowing for smooth and super quick training of new team members, and Dean’s teams always deliver high quality products on time. Dean is also highly skilled at calculating throughput and impact metrics, both through being thoughtful when designing the measurements and through implementing the technical solutions to surface the stats.

I highly recommend Dean for any managerial appointment that depends on organizational complexity and quantitatively-driven processes.

“As a software engineer at Google I worked with Dean for many years, primarily on data curation for machine learning systems. Dean oversaw a team of up to 60 operators specializing in over 20 languages, and working across two continents. He was responsible for training, organizing, and leading the teams responsible for generating the labeled data needed to build and evaluate a variety of machine learning models. This required him to have a solid general understanding of how machine learning works and how to evaluate and improve models.

Dean was responsible for overseeing long-term model work as well as immediate incident remediation, and he also organized medium-term and one-off tasks allowing the models to adjust to priority shifts and dynamic strategic goals. This required him to work flexibly, quickly grasping the goals, organizing resources, and developing and delivering the required training, often with short timeframes. This work required strong skills with presentations and documents (for training materials) and spreadsheets (for data curation and analysis).

While I was less directly involved with this aspect of his work, I know that he also did all the time management for the team, writing and maintaining SQL scripts for prioritization and time tracking. He was always pleasant to work with, eager to learn new skills and to try new things, and very effective at estimating required resources and getting things done in the allotted time. Dean’s collaborative spirit, strong work ethic, and technical skills make him a strong asset.
